Puppies Have Arrived!

Maggie delivered six healthy puppies starting at 3:30 yesterday morning. Three girls and three boys!

They are nursing well and holding even on their weights which is good for day 2.

It was one of the easiest deliveries I have ever “helped” with. Maggie did everything! Very little pre labor and almost no discernible contractions. All are black and white as you can see in the photo. More to follow!

I want to give a special thanks for Kevin and Sandy McCabe who not only bred Maggie’s mother but also bred Nelson, the sire of this litter.

At the Vet

This is Cinnamon. She’s going to live in Michigan.

This is Boston. He’s going to live 2 hours north of us in Florida.

Puppies took a field trip Friday to my vet. They were microchipped, got their first immunization for DHPP. They were thoroughly checked over, had a fecal exam,  got the bordetalla vaccine and dewormer. Everyone passed with flying colors! But they were exhausted when they returned home. Here are some pix.

This is Mattie. She’s going to stay with me for a while.

This is Foxy. She’s going to live in Michigan.

The vet techs loved the puppies! What’s not to love?

This is Twist. He’s going to live in Chicago.

At the vet. Check out Boston on the far right getting ready for a sneak attack!

Now We Have Names

So difficult to put names on puppies. This time I took clues from the parents.

Puppies from Fern’s litter with Marco.

Girl: Cinnamon (as in cinnamon fern…a play on her mother’s name) has the darker sable and patch on her back.

Boy: Boston (also a fern!) has the paler sable just around her face.

Puppies from Tango’s litter with Tiger all have dance names!

The boy is Twist and is all white. The girl in this video is Foxy (as in the Fox Trot and is a dark sable and white).

The last video is of Cha-Cha and she is the smallest one. And Mattie for “Waltzing Matilda”.
