This clipper is by Safety 1st but there are a bunch on the market.

I trim my puppys’ nails about once a week. Like everything else about them, their nails grow very quickly. They can present painful nursing sessions for their moms nipple area so I try to keep them as short as possible.

The other benefit of trimming their nails this often is that they get accustomed to the process. Ideally I don’t trim too close but if I do, I always have a jar of styptic powder nearby to dab on the offended toe with a q-tip.

Just FYI, this is the nail clipper I use. My daughter used it when my grandson Lucas was a baby. It is perfect until puppies are about 4 months old or so.

 

A Lot Has Happened!

It has been over two weeks. A few things took precedence…including a 3 day stay in the hospital for me!! I am fine and happy to be on the bright side of this earth. And I am so thankful for my family for taking such good care of the babies!!

Here are a couple videos for starters. The first one is one of their first meals of kibble mush.

And this one is the puppies playing with Fozzie Bear, my 3 month old. He is sooooooo happy to have friends who will actually romp with him!

Our “Birds in the Garden” Are almost 4 Weeks Old!

Today we played a bit then we tried each pup out on its back on my lap. It is a way to determine which pups are more confident…at least at this stage of their little lives. With encouragement from the breeder, the pup can learn to relax on it back. That is my goal!

At the Vet

This is Cinnamon. She’s going to live in Michigan.

This is Boston. He’s going to live 2 hours north of us in Florida.

Puppies took a field trip Friday to my vet. They were microchipped, got their first immunization for DHPP. They were thoroughly checked over, had a fecal exam,  got the bordetalla vaccine and dewormer. Everyone passed with flying colors! But they were exhausted when they returned home. Here are some pix.

This is Mattie. She’s going to stay with me for a while.

The vet techs loved the puppies! What’s not to love?
