And, Just like that, We are 4 Weeks Old!

Havanese are the cutest! Now they are mouthing each other, toys and anything else they can get their tiny mouths around! Playing in earnest!

It has been a busy week what with our trek south in the Motorhome, our dealings with the ravages of Ian, a leak in my bedroom wall and just generally getting settled in.

Of course the puppies could care less! They have more important things to do!

As for Puppy Culture, we have been getting our toes tickled, our bellies rubbed and our bedroom full of new textures and toys.

Puppy Culture Enrichment Effect

Puppy Culture recommends adding a different toy, object, obstacle etc. to the puppy pen every day. Puppies That are stimulated in this way. Here is what they say, ”

“Puppies raised with lots of stimulation actually grow more brain than puppies raised in a boring environment. They demonstrate increased learning development. This is called the enrichment effect.

Also add the litter box filled with pine pellets. Negotiating the litter box builds muscles.”

They really love this new toy I got. So many nooks, crannies, obstacles and objects!

Hippity and Peeps can even navigate the slide!

And I introduced them to my little electric vacuum. Did not pose any issue to Peter C. or Daffodil. Will try again soon with the others!

Picnic in the play set! Hoppity is squeezing thru one of the openings!

New pix and a Video!

And sorry about the background conversation! Jen was helping me put together the puppy’s new play set.

Note the new pen and the addition of litter boxes. It will take a couple days but they will start using them almost immediately!

One of their fav toys is my empty Metamucil bottle! LOL

Why Do Newborn Puppies Twitch?

I wanted to show you a video of our sleeping babies so you could enjoy their puppy sounds and watch them twitch!

Not only perfectly normal, but a sign of healthy puppies, twitching helps build their muscles when they are still unable to move around much. Not twitching is cause for concern. This is called “activated Sleep”. You can read about it on the Puppy Culture website. But basically it helps muscle and form the neurological connections that will allow them to develop motor coordination. Fascinating, right?
