I try to introduce several obstacles to the puppy play area each day now.
It builds confidence and adds a little variety to their life!
Also note their “play growling”. This is their way of asserting themselves within the pack. It never escalates but is awfully cute!

Glenda. Puppy Culture protocol. This is a VERY soft hold, I promise!
Agatha’s pretty markings.
We started our Puppy Culture Protocol a few days ago. Here the puppies are getting accustomed to being on their backs. It stimulates the nerves they do now normally use at this stage. They also spend a few seconds vertically both with heads up and heads down. Again, for the same reason. It also flushes their little brains with blood….and then drains it.
None of these movements are intended to replace the normal petting, stroking and hugging they get each day. These are also very important for reducing blood pressure and stress in the puppies.
The pups are 8 weeks old now and ready to meet their new families. I have blankets and toys in their pen to play with. These will go with them to their new families so they have the scents of their litter mates with them for comfort. It is a scary time for new puppies but their Puppy Culture protocol will help them face their future with lots of confidence and excitement.
