Havanese Boy Puppy #2

If you look closely, you might appreciate that, on my former post, puppy #1 and puppy #2, as pictured originally, are actually the same puppy. So, I have now edited my post, and removed the erroneous photos, to reflect the real puppy #2. He is, by all marks, a sweetie. I hope he forgives me for this oversight!!!

Havanese Puppies See the World!

Our puppies are 17 days old now and their eyes are pretty much open. No, they cannot focus yet but they can see shadows which has to be exciting. Even more exciting is that their little legs are getting strong enough that they can move about the whelping box very well. Here are some photos … you’ll be amazed how much they’ve grown!

Puppy 4 is developing some nice brown markings!

Getting so strong!

Eyes wide open!

Telling secrets?

Puppy play is beginning to take form.

They can get to their milk station much faster now.

I love it when their eyes open!!!

Here are some photos of our individual puppies. Their noses are mostly black now but their eyes are still closed. Next time I’ll use my camera. I’m not too happy with the quality of my phone photos.

Meet the Parents

With the arrival of our latest litter of Havanese puppies I thought I should post some photos of our next Mom and Dad. They are expecting February 25. Our Marli is the sable and cream and Ruger is all black. We’ll have some wonderful color combinations including black and tan which excites me because we haven’t had that color before.

Ruger in the garden. He’s a very handsome boy!

Ruger with attitude.

Marli seems a little bored but, really, she isn’t at all. Just playing hard to get.

Nice shot of the parents.

I think Ruger is whispering sweet nothings in Marli’s ear.

First Day for Mush and Pedicures

Here they are. You can’t even see their dish. It does, however, give a great view of their coloring. So, from 1 o’clock and going around the clock, we have: Arthur, Ariel, Abby, Aloha, Alfi, Albert, Annie and Alvin.

Puppies had their first non-Maxi meal today. I waited a week longer than I usually do because Maxi seems to be keeping her weight on and my breeder friends believe it gives the puppies a better start. But, were they ever ready for mushy kibble today! They just scarfed it down. I hadn’t even warmed it up or mixed it with goat’s milk.

They also got their first pedicure. Their tiny nails are so sharp, I just know it’s painful for Maxi when they nurse. I’m sure she will be very grateful. I’ll give them a weekly pedicure now so that by the time they go to their new homes they will be very accustomed to the weird feeling procedure.

Finally, they all got a dose of Nemex-2, which is for routine de-worming. They’ll all have a fecal exam when they visit the vet in 2 weeks to confirm that they are clean. Fortunately
