Havanese Puppies
And Now We Can See!
Fern’s pups are three weeks old tomorrow and what healthy, plump pups they are. Their eyes are almost completely open now. So they can see their mama and their littermates. They are having a blast tugging, pushing and climbing all over each other. This is when the fun really begins!

Some Books I Like…

I have had several families appreciate input on what books to read before your new family member arrives.
Here are some I like:

The Havanese was written by a veterinarian who used to breed and show Havanese dogs

How to Speak Dog is a fun but informative book about communicating with your canine family member. Modern Dog Parenting has a wonderful approach to training your new puppy.

Dr. Pitcairn has included dozens of recipes for hand made dog food should you be so inclined. But this is a great reference book for many health issues that can come up. And, he has a holistic approach which I like.

Joyous Havanese was written by Kitty Braund and is very helpful. I got my first Havanese, Phoebe, from Kitty. It was her last litter as she was approaching 90 years young. Phoebe is my heart dog…just turned 10!
Introducing My Fall Flavors Litter!!

Sage was our first born. He is a dark sable with a white chest and four white paws. Right now he’s a pretty rambunctious boy! Sage weighs 1.75 pounds.

Sweet Sage

Another photo of Fearless Cocoa

This is Cocoa. He is Puppy #2. He weighs 1.48 pounds and is a very dark sable with white toes on his back feet.

I’m calling Puppy #3 Latte.
He’s also a Sable Parti but is cream with the exception of his face and ears. Plus he has a cute little mustache on half his mouth! Latte weighs 1.92 pounds.

Coy Latte

Caramel getting ready to explore.

This is Caramel…Puppy #4. He is solid champagne. He weighs 2.04 pounds and he likes to explore.

This is Ginger. As sweet as they come, she tips the scales at 1.45 pounds so she’s going to be a little girl. Ginger was Puppy #5 and she is solid white.

This is Squash, Puppy #6. Squash is the puppy I had to bottle feed for 4 weeks but as soon as the pups got on solids last week he took off! He’ll be small but not as small as a couple others. He is sable parti with four white stockings and a pretty white blaze. Squash weighs 1.7 pounds.

So if you saw this third photo of Cinnamon you might think she was a pretty reserved girl. But she couldn’t sit still for more than a nano-second. She sniffed my keyboard and then the table and then me. So curious! Cinnamon weighs 1.94 pounds and has white on her two back feet.

Last but not least is Puppy #8, now Thyme. He is white with a tinge of cream on his ears which will probably fade to white. He clearly has the attitude that he is a Prince! Especially in this photo. Maybe it’s because he scared me silly when he was born and couldn’t breath as the result of swallowing amniotic fluid during delivery. After trying all I know to resuscitate him I rushed him to my vet who did his magic. Thyme now weighs 2.15 pounds. Clearly his bumpy first few hours didn’t affect his ability to eat!
