The Days Fly By!!

I can’t believe it’s been 10 days since my last post. I am so sorry…especially for the families who are starving for updates of their little ones!

Yesterday the kids had their first full bath and did great!

They also got their fourth pedicure. 9 puppies….162 nails! I introduced them to the dremel which is a great way to file their nails. The one I have is cordless and very quiet. They were a bit confused but no one freaked out!

I also have been introducing different objects into their pen. This morning it was a plastic box turned upside down. They LOVED it! Anything that puts a Havanese above the others is always a hit!

This is Hawthorne (now Poco) who took a particular fancy to the box!

Hawthorne and Anikin tussling on the box.

Hawthorne on top of the box.

A well earned nap!

Morning Play Time

Moms are eating outside the Puppy Pen now because they are not willing to share!

But it is a perfect time to get the puppies at their playful best.

Note our new setup. One of the whelping boxes is still in the pen as a private bedroom for the moms when they want some peace.

I vary the flooring in the pen with lots of different textures and a fluffy crate bed for them to climb on and build strength in their legs.

And I have added a pee pad which they are already using.

Finally, I left the original sound on the video. I think their little growls and barks are a hoot!

Enjoy!!

What a fun stage!

And…just like that…they are sound asleep!

Mouthing Phase is Normal and Important!

At 3 weeks puppies will start exploring their environment and their littermates by “mouthing”.

This is not to be confused with a 10 week old puppy’s mouthing which can be a bit painful!

I find it endearing…one of the first signs of interaction with others around them.

Some New Photos & Videos!

Sunshine with her little girl, Clover. I think she is Sunshine’s favorite. because I constantly find her outside the whelping box. She is too short to climb out on her own, so Sunshine helps her!

I’m calling these two photos “Bellies Up!”

Sunshine’s pups love to sleep on their backs! I think it is so darn cute!

….and one of Artemis’s pups has caught on!
